Kate Secor, Director of Dance
Kate Secor began the Dance Program here at Berkmar High School in Fall 2008. Formerly a theatre teacher, Ms. Secor began her teaching career at Berkmar in Fall 2007.
Education: BFA Theatre Education, Minor in Dance-University of North Carolina at Greensboro (2007) MA in Dance Education-University of Northern Colorado (2018) Licensure: Georgia, P-12 Theatre, Dance, and Health/PE Dance training: New Paltz School of Ballet (New Paltz, New York)-Suzanne Clark and Peter and Lisa Naumann (age 6-12); trained in ballet, jazz and tap, DanceArts Unlimited (Durham, NC)-Sharon Bullock (age 12-14); trained in ballet, jazz and lyrical. Riverside High School-co-choreographer and featured dancer for theatre deptartment (ages 15-17) University of North Carolina at Greensboro-minor in dance; trained in modern, ballet, jazz, African, rhythm tap and ballroom; member of collegiate dance team 2002-2003 University of Northern Colorado-studied dance history, dance pedagogy, choreography, elements of production, and popular dance forms |
